2013 LINE UP ANNOUNCED!
The Celtic Festival
Barbados is one of the hottest Celtic festivals in the world! A blend of beautiful music from professional musicians from
Scotland, Ireland and Wales, the "Celtic" countries, and Cape Breton Island. This festival takes place on a tropical
island in the West Indies.
With a strong Gaelic theme this year, we welcome the Piping
Quartet SEUDAN from Scotland, Big Rory street theatre - the stilt walking bagpiper, award winning vocalists JEANA LESLIE
and SIOBHAN MILLER, with guitarist Aaron Jones, Cape Bretoners KENNETH AND CALUM MACKENZIE, and from IRELAND, the amazing
Alan Kelly Gang. Chef Paul Wedgwood from Edinburgh back by popular demand!
Celtic Festival Barbados celebrates a somewhat turbulent 300-year history of the Celts in the Caribbean. Many were
sent there by Cromwell as indentured servants to work the sugar plantations and today, their descendants have Celtic blood.
Some of them were knicknamed the Redlegs. There is a Scotland District in Barbados, and a St Andrews Parish and the Redleg
Descendants of the Scots.
The 2013 Celtic Festival Barbados takes place from May 23rd to 29th
